This question gets raised every autumn without fail and today we aim to answer it once and for all. Our marquees are split into four ranges: PE, Economy, Premium and Professional. Each range is suitable for many different scenarios and we recommend for winter/bad weather the Professional range. First of all you need to ask what you actually want from a marquee and what you need it to do in bad weather. Having 550g PVC tarpaulin will help combat wind, rain and even improve insulation which will help keep the marquee warm. Another reason the UK Tents professional range is ideal for winter is the ground bar, which offers more stability and weight.
Marquee Commercial Use
If you are looking for a temporary structure for a public event you may want the PVC to be fire resistant to enable maximum safety. In the winter it is also important to secure the marquee down and UK Tents offer a range of marquee accessories to help. If you are installing on hard ground simply install the hard ground storm protection kit and for grass select the soft ground option. In the winter we recommend adding as much weight as possible by using either water containers or sand bags. You can never be too careful when securing our professional marquees, as they are much heavier than the other ranges. We have sold our products to some of the biggest companies in the world and during the colder months our party tents are perfect for the following:
- Social events
- Storage
- Restaurants and pubs
- Temporary work space
- Swimming pool cover
- Temporary building extension
- COVID testing centres
Winter Storage Marquees
If you are looking for a storage solution during the winter months our professional range will be a great option. The professional range comes with a skirting, which prevents water entering the marquee. Many people have started to use our marquees as a garage or even a house extension to create more space at home. Please remember all marquees will require maintenance if you look after your structure it can last many years.
We always like to catch up with our customers and James from Grimsby purchased our 6x8m Professional marquee to store his “pride and joy” BMW car. We asked James how the marquee worked out for him and if he would recommend it to be used as a garage…
Having bought a new terrace house I obviously don’t have a garage and my wife and me thought of many ways I could store my pride and joy without costing me a small fortune. One of our neighbours suggested a marquee to cover our car and to use as a temporary structure. Here we are 7 months later with a dry car and a lovely marquee so he was right! I would highly recommend UK Tents as they really looked after me from start to finish. I went from not knowing the first thing about marquees to becoming an expert Paul really knew his stuff and helped me get my head around the whole thing.
Need Advice?
In summary marquees are no longer just required for the summer season, people have realised the endless possibilities and how they can make the most of any empty space. The one thing we strongly advise is to call us with any questions or anything you’re not sure about. Building marquees in the winter is much harder and sometimes requires expert knowledge regarding securing the structure. Contact us on 01234 233 234 or fill out the form below. Our thanks goes to the George pub in Earley for suggesting this blog for us to write. If you have anything you you’d like us to post about get in touch.
