A marquee has many uses and today I want to talk about how you can erect a party tent on a range of hard surfaces such as concrete, tarmac or even gravel. This doesn’t solve all situations as many of you are looking for ways to secure your marquee without drilling into the ground.

Secure Your Marquee Without Drilling

This is the 20 million dollar question, first of all if you haven’t got experience in building a marquee on a particular surface we urge you to contact us for free advice. Below is a list of the safest ways you can hold down a marquee without drilling into the ground:

• Water weights – You can find water containers in all shapes and sizes. We recommend as much weight as possible especially if you have purchased a larger marquee. 1 litre of water = 1 KG and the good thing about using water weight is that they are easy to move and store once you have emptied the container.
• Sand Weights – Purchasing sand bags online is very easy and the only downside to this method is the mess it can cause.
• Metal weights – These are the ones you may find in the gym and if they are heavy enough you can tie ropes keeping the structure weighted down.

If the winds are seriously strong we advise the structure to be dismantled. Safety is always our priority at UK Tents and our advice is to secure your marquee every time it’s being used. The day you erect your marquee might be a glorious summers day but we still strongly recommend you use heavy weights. All it takes is a gust of wind to ruin your event or even worse cause a serious injury.
