The whole point of buying a marquee is to avoid hiring/extra costs and securing your marquee will enable you to keep your investment in top notch condition. In this blog we aim to teach you three things 1) How to secure your marquee 2) The importance in securing your marquee and 3) Suggest products you can buy from UK Tents to achieve the best results.

Storm Protection Kits

Rule number one in securing your marquee is using ratchets and ratchet straps. We have created the perfect marquee storm protection kits which has everything you possibly need to hold your marquee down in bad weather. We have two types of storm kit one for soft ground (This is for grass) and hard ground kits perfect for concrete, tarmac or wooden floors. Our soft ground kit consists of 2x 20m Tension Belts, cleverly designed steel pegs and a carry case. This kit will hold the marquee down from the top compressing the structure enabling it to fight wind and other bad weather. The hard ground kits come with 2x 20m Tension Belts, 2x large ratchets, Carry bag and instead of the pegs we include 4 eye bolts which drill into the ground.

How to use:

• The tension belts are fitted to the tent on the construction at eaves height.
• Drill the eyebolts into the ground and simply attach the tension belt.

When building your marquee make sure you have 2 meters around the structure to allow for the straps to be pulled tight and hammered or drilled in (depending on the ground)

Extra Strong Marquee Ground Stakes

In an ideal scenario you could use the storm protection kit and the ground stakes at the same time as they compliment each other very well. In same cases this just wouldn’t be possible for example if you didn’t have the space around the marquee to use the storm straps you could still use the ground stakes as if goes directly into the ground.

We recommend a stake in each corner as a minimum and if possible stake every leg. You can purchase ground stakes on the UK Tents website for £14.99 each and this will prove a fantastic investment as it will keep your party tent down and protect it in bad weather.

Please note – If you are using ground stakes in a new area make sure there is nothing underground that can be effected (wires, pipes etc)

We recommend securing any size marquee in the summer or the winter as the weather can change incredibly quickly. If you don’t secure your marquee properly it can cost you a lot of money in damages and even worse cause a serious injury.
