There are many uses for a marquee but quite a few of our customers want to know if our party tents are suitable for covering a swimming pool. If you have an outdoor swimming pool this could be the perfect solution to have all year round use by protecting yourself and the pool against bad weather. But why is it important to cover the pool in the summer? As a parent you might be worried that your children may spend too much time in the sun but having a marquee in place can protect them. Our PVC marquees are UV resistant as standard and will provide shade keeping you safe and comfortable. Having a marquee cover your pool will also offer many other benefits such as: Keeping dirt away, hold in the heat when it’s cooler, keep pets away and it will lower noise pollution (which I am sure neighbours would appreciate)

It’s amazing when you see the sales statistics as our best selling marquees for covering swimming pools haven’t been similar. The large majority have been 5 x 10 and 6 x 12.

This had me intrigued, why are these the go to sizes? I spoke to one of our customers and the answers really explained the stats. Below are the questions and answers:

Q: Many of the UK Tents customers are choosing 6×12 or 5×10 for covering swimming pools, may I ask why?

A: We have a big garden so obviously it made sense to have a large marquee. That’s it really… Nothing more to it.

Q: Why did you buy a PVC marquee and not PE?

A: We wanted to buy a marquee once! The fact the professional marquee has a thicker taurpalin and comes with ground bar made our deisicion easy. We didn’t want to buy a party tent every year and we were told if we maintain it by cleaning the tarpaulin and look after the structure it would last. So far so good!

Q: Finally, where did you get the idea to cover your pool with a marquee and would you recommend it?

A: It was my brilliant idea (Customer laughed out loud) Ok to be honest we went to a friends party that was held in a marquee, it made sense. We could have an outdoor pool in the summer and roll the sides sown for the winter… What can I say? I’m a genius!

Secure The Marquee

Remember if you are planning on keeping your marquee up long term it’s very important to secure it properly. We recommend our extra strong ground stakes they are designed to hold the legs from the bottom and they are simple to install. If you want to have real peace of mind you might want to also hold the structure from the top by using our storm protection kit which is available for hard ground and soft ground installation.
