From the space available to us at home the one we typically ignore is the garden but not anymore! In this blog we want to talk a bit about how you can run your own marquee garden party.
The odd summer barbeque maybe but generally we’ve not fully used this “extra room” as a welcoming space for house guests for a number of reasons, probably the most pertinent is the unpredictability of the British weather. However, if there’s anything we’ve learnt from the past year or so is how useful and flexible such an area can be and how necessary.
Investing in a marquee could solve the weather issue, provide a comfortable and elegant space for your party guests, and make the occasion just that little bit more special.
When not in use it can be packed away into a fairly compact space, like an attic or garden shed and we can supply purpose designed bags to meet that very need. It also makes the tent easily transportable – maybe a group of neighbours, a close, a housing association or extended family could share the resource?
So, the basics when planning such an event. Lighting can transform the space into a spectacular venue, but elegance doesn’t necessarily mean expensive. Festoon or “strung” lighting is particularly effective as it can be easily manipulated to drape overhead for a magical canopy effect or entwined around the galvanised steel frame for a fairy-tale finish. LED birdcage lanterns positioned around the marquee or dancefloor can be equally dramatic as can LED up-light lanterns.
Colourful bunting is a quick and easy way to add interest to your setting. An opportunity for a DIY project, bunting is also a perfect way to harness a theme or colour scheme. Helium balloons can add glamour to an occasion – perhaps a balloon arch to enter the tent?
Or how about paper lanterns, which can hang down from the ceiling as a cost-effective way to give your marquee the wow factor when guests walk in.
If it’s an engagement, Birthday, or anniversary, don’t forget to set aside a space for the cake cutting and maybe a speech or two and don’t worry about streamers or confetti making a mess of the house, you’ve contained it within the marquee.
Maybe you want something a little different? A garden marquee from UK Tents could be the perfect setting for a “secret cinema” with either an LED projector and screen or a large flat screen TV, coupled of course with a sound bar. Bean bags could give your film night a casual and relaxed feel – just add popcorn.
Becoming ever more popular is the “fun casino” where all the thrills of a casino are brought to your home by professional croupiers with the same equipment you would find in many a casino but without the risk as your guests would play with “fun money” – you could of course provide a prize for the “highest roller”. Using a Marquee would create the right atmosphere as it would be a dedicated space for gaming and of course not require you to remove furniture from your living areas to fit it in.
Don’t forget of course that butting up a marquee to the back of your house couldn’t be easier and will seamlessly bring your guests through from house to party area.
It will instantly give you that much needed space, takes the pressure off from the house (and your carpets!) and a neat fit to most houses. No physical drilling into the house is needed as the tents are freestanding. They can be installed over French doors, sliding doors bi-fold doors…any doors! Its like having an extra room and a nightclub like venue right outside!
