This is the first in an occasional series on getting the best from a marquee wedding. We start by looking at it from the perspective of the wedding party.
There’s something really rather charming and romantic about the concept of creating your own wedding venue, to your own specifications and making it a real reflection of your own style and personalities. With a marquee You’re basically creating your own wedding venue.
Some couples also opt for a marquee wedding so that they can make use of their own gardens or land. This is a wonderfully personal option of course and can afford you the luxury of designing your perfect setting at your own pace and keep a constant eye on proceedings as your venue comes together.
When it comes to the internal design of your wedding tent, the world is literally your oyster. We would of course recommend the Premium PVC range as the investment here could save you considerably more in the longer term, but we can cover these options later in this article.
An easy and cost-effective way to dress the tent would be with our range of Satin or Organza linings, available in a wide range of colours to compliment your wedding theme and lighting scheme, each 1.5 metres wide and a range of drop lengths to allow flexibility in design.
When designing your wedding there are a number of things you will of course want to consider.
Firstly of course is guest comfort. Think about furniture, layout, where the top table will be, the cake, any entertainment, a bar – of course, in the (hopefully) short term covid restrictions are all part of your planning process. This is the advantage of a Marquee. It’s rectangular interior, with no odd alcoves or nooks and crannies to worry about, you have a blank canvas in which to express your creativity and really personalise the day – it is your wedding so it really should reflect you.
With current pandemic sensibilities in mind a marquee, naturally well ventilated, is a real boon to helping your guests feel safe and secure – weatherproof should you experience inclement weather (and I remember my dear old Mum telling me on my wedding day that every raindrop was a heaven-sent blessing) or in fine weather, you can even roll the ends up giving you that “inside but outside” feel.
As for cost effective? Compare the cost of a premium marquee from us to hiring a hall of equivalent capacity. Then factor in that you are not tied to the function halls own catering and of course after the wedding you still own the venue! It compacts down for easy storage and we even have bespoke bags for that very purpose – keeping the Marquee in tip top condition for years to come. Imagine how romantic it could be to hold Anniversary celebrations (or maybe welcoming a new addition to the family) with an event in the very place you celebrated your exchange of vows – what could be more memorable?
Alternatively, talk to us and we may be able to offer a second-hand buy back (subject to availability).
Admittedly, this author is biased but I cannot think of a better place to celebrate your nuptials.
(In future updates we’ll look at wedding marquees from the prospective of the wedding planner and dedicated venues like hotels, golf clubs, etc)
